Protecting the Rights and Securing Resources for People Affected
by HIV/AIDS
The Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium is an advocate for people living
with HIV/AIDS and the organizations on which they depend. Working
with policymakers and funders, the Regional Consortium seeks
increased public and private funding for HIV prevention and care
programs, for expanded AIDS services, and for an end to discrimination
against people affected by the epidemic.
Funding Community-Based Prevention and Care Programs
The Regional Consortium funds community-based prevention programs
via private grants and donations. Often a grassroots program
provides needed services that do not fit within the guidelines
fo a public grant. As a community partner of the National AIDS
Fund, the Regional Consortium receives funding that it matches
2:1 to provide funding for such programs. The Regional Consortium
also provides agencies with AmeriCorps members to serve in prevention,
counseling and testing and quality of life enhancement.
